Success Secrets: How Credentials Can Sabotage
Your Business
|
Do you ever worry about whether you have the credentials you need to succeed? Do you keep investing in training without earning a return on your investment? Credentials can't hold your business up If you rebuild with the same materials, going for another credential or certificate, you end up with the same rickety house, just more cards. I'm not saying that credentials are bad. In some cases, they are essential. Even so, if you are too focused on credentials, your business will suffer. When does a credential do more harm than good? Enthusiasm moves us closer to Source Enthusiasm is contagious. When you are enthused, the people you are in business to serve can feel it. When you reach out, they recognize and respond to your message. Anxiety moves us away from Source Like enthusiasm, anxiety is contagious. If your message does reach your audience in spite of your defenses, they'll sense that something is wrong. The most important of all success secrets:
Success depends on conscious connection with Source We worry about how people will react to our offers -- offers we haven't made and may not ever make because now we are procrastinating. The longer we procrastinate, the more evidence we have that we don't have what it takes to succeed. It's a vicious cycle, and it's all smoke and mirrors. Another success secret is that every steppingstone along the path to success is identical. All that is required (and I'm not saying this is easy) is to show up and take the next indicated step. That might look like going to a networking breakfast even though you don't have an elevator speech. When it's your turn to introduce yourself, maybe you say: "I'm so-and-so. I have the crazy notion that taking photos of children is my life purpose, and I'm darn good at it, if I do say so myself. I haven't the foggiest idea of how to say that in front of an audience, so if you'd like to help me with an elevator speech, here's my email address." Who knows? The point is that the most important of all success secrets is conscious connection with something bigger than you, rather than trying to be bigger than you are by acquiring more credentials. You'll go a lot further if you show up and make mistakes than you will if you try to get things right before you start.

Your ezine provokes thought and gives a
healthy perspective about money
"I subscribed to your ezine because I liked your style of coaching. I feel
as though we are like-minded. I expected to learn from you, and I have not
been disappointed! Your ezine provokes thought and applies to the ways I do
business as a coach. Your writing is very insightful, and I like the conversational,
real-life content.
I believe your ezine is a great fit for small business owners without a strong support team and anybody with money health issues.
Keep fighting the good fight - you make a significant difference in people's lives! As a fellow coach, I am naturally drawn to all things coaching. I am building a new practice and really appreciate your advice."

When I'm 'wavering', which is something
we all do from time to time when building a business, I go back to your word
"Hi Molly, I look forward to receiving your ezine because you offer a balanced
perspective, useful reminders that self-promotion and selling our services
is okay, and encouragement to make choices about who we really want to be and
what we want to do, and to reflect and persevere. So when I'm 'wavering', which
is something we all do from time to time when building a business, I go back
to your word - authentic and remind myself what that is for me.
I have been a subscriber for more than 3 years and I still enjoy your ezine. It's the only one I've kept my subscription to specifically because you haven't gone to the 'hype' place that so many (coaches) do.
Thank you for a constant reminder that you're out there. It helps me get to know you... so when I do need a certain kind of help I'm quite sure you'll be the person I choose to support me. I love seeing your book promoted at the side all the time. I recommend it when I have occasion to do so, and am grateful because you shared chapters before it was published. Your ezine IS authentic, your personality shines through. And from a content perspective, it's not 'hyped' up and it's not formulaic.
I think your content is p-e-r-f-e-c-t for solo/micro self-employed and those I call 'accidental entrepreneurs’ or ‘the creatively self-employed' (Me and my niches)."
